The new Van Diemen DP08 with an engine built and produced by Panoz Motor Sports Group’s Elan Technologies had quite an impressive debut last weekend on both sides of the Atlantic.
In Round One of the F2000 Championship Series at Virginia International Raceway, Anders Krohn and Jonny Baker of Andersen Racing opened qualifying Saturday by placing one-two on the grid. Later that day, they replicated the morning feat with a one-two finish in Saturday’s 37-car field on the 3.27-mile road course.
The following day in Round Two, Krohn lowered his qualifying time from the prior day to once again sit on the pole, while Baker followed suit to remain on the outside of Row One. The Anderson Racing duo placed first and second again in Sunday’s 31-car field.
Meanwhile in England, Medina Sport’s Tom Bradshaw captured both the pole and race win in Round Three at the Kent Formula Ford competition at Oulton Park in the DP08.
“To sweep three races on the first weekend of competition with the new Van Diemen DP08 chassis and Elan Technologies engine is quite an accomplishment,” said David Bowes, CEO of Elan Technologies. “Van Diemen has always had a reputation as one of the leading chassis developers in the world, and its new chassis design combined with Elan’s engine certainly provided an unbeatable combination in these maiden ventures.”
